Conflict of Interest

Conflict of Interest Policy at the Journal of Online Engineering Education (JOEE):

The Journal of Online Engineering Education (JOEE) adheres to guidelines outlined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding conflicts of interest. A conflict of interest arises when professional judgment concerning a primary interest, such as the validity of research, may be influenced by secondary interests, including financial gain or personal relationships.

Declaration of Conflict of Interest:

  1. Mandatory Declaration:

    • Authors submitting manuscripts to JOEE are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest related to their research, authorship, or publication of the chapter.
    • This declaration is mandatory for all chapters and must be included in the manuscript submission.
  2. Types of Conflicts:

    • Conflicts of interest may include but are not limited to financial relationships (e.g., employment, consultancies, stock ownership, patents), personal relationships or rivalries, academic competition, and intellectual beliefs.
  3. Statement of No Conflict:

    • If authors have no conflicts of interest to declare, they must include the following statement in their manuscript: "The authors declare no potential conflicts of interest with respect to research, authorship, and/or publication of this chapter."
  4. Third-Party Advertisements:

    • In order to mitigate potential conflicts of interest, JOEE does not accept third-party advertisements in its publications.

Advertisement Policy:

JOEE maintains a strict policy against third-party advertisements within its publications. This policy is designed to uphold the integrity and impartiality of the journal's content by eliminating potential conflicts of interest that may arise from advertising relationships.

By adhering to these conflict of interest policies, JOEE aims to uphold the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing within the field of online engineering education.
